In Loving Memory of Rita Johnson Dorofy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Rita Johnson Dorofy, who left us peacefully on April 16, 2025.

Rita was predeceased by her devoted husband, Walter, and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness through her family. She is survived by her three children, Debra (Peter) Demarco, Stephen (Rosalba) Dorofy, Donna (John) Bazelmans, eleven grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren—each of whom brought her endless pride and joy.

A woman of quiet strength and creative spirit, Rita had a lifelong love of sewing, crafting, and puzzles. Whether she was stitching a quilt, making something special by hand, or finishing a jigsaw with her morning coffee, she brought thoughtfulness and care to all she did. Her table was always open to share a sweet treat, a card game, and good conversation. Rita will be remembered for her gentle heart, quick wit, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down and the memories she helped create. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Family and friends are invited to join the family to celebrate her life at calling hours on Wednesday, April 23rd from 4pm-7pm at Harloff Funeral Home.  Her funeral service will be on Thursday, April 24th at 10:00am at St Jerome’s in East Rochester.
