Obituary of William R. Brown

William Richard Brown, 90, of Fairport, NY passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY.

Bill was born in East Rochester, NY to Velma and Donald Brown and predeceased by his parents and his brother Don.  He is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 68 years Rita Brown; his children, Susan Calabrese (Pete), Timothy Brown (Amy) and Michael Brown; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.  

Bill served in the navy out of high school and was a member of St John of Rochester.  He dedicated most of his career to Penwalt Pharmaceuticals and was well known in the Fairport community as a long time youth baseball and football coach.  He had a passion for sports, especially cheering on the Buffalo Bills and NY Yankees.  He also had a special bond with his dogs throughout their lives.  In his free time, he enjoyed building model boats, taking care of projects around the house, and above all spending time with his family whom he loved deeply.  Bill’s life was one of quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering love for those around him.  He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and dedication to his family and community.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in his name can be made to the Fairport Little League.
