It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara DiMino, beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cherished friend, and dedicated educator. Barbara tragically lost her life in a fatal car crash on June 23, 2025. She was born on July 15,1950 in Rochester, New York to Alphonse and Joan DiMino; the youngest of three children.
After graduating from college, she began her teaching career in Watertown, NY.
However, in the early 1980’s, after experiencing the harsh Northeast climate, Barb decided to join her brother’s family in Casa Grande. She continued her teaching career in both special education and grades 1-4. She was strict but effective. Her students learned because she cared and made sure they understood.
A devoted dog lover, Barb raised champion Dalmatians under the "Pennwiper" kennel name. She was a 47- year member of the Dalmatian Club of America and served as president of the local chapter. Additionally, she was involved in the Barn Hunt-Casa Grande group where she was a trainer, competitor and friend to all.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Barb was a mentor to many in the dog community, earning numerous accolades for her contributions and commitment. Her warmth, kindness, and infectious enthusiasm for life drew people to her, and she cherished the friendships she built along the way. In her free time, Barb enjoyed traveling and “visiting casinos”, always seeking new adventures and experiences.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Ron (Marian). She will always be known as “Aunt B” to her nephew, Mark (Charlene); niece, Sharon; Great nephews, Lucas and Dominic; and Great nieces, Corinna and Cara. Barb is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Dennis, who tragically died at the age of 13.
We will celebrate her life and the joy she brought to so many at a funeral mass on July 12 at 9:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (Community Center) in Casa Grande. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: St. Anthony of Padua Church Restoration Fund, Dalmatian Club of Phoenix, or Barn Hunt- Casa Grande.
Barb leaves behind a legacy of love, mentorship, and dedication that will continue to inspire all she touched.
Note: Our family is grateful for the support of the “dog world” community whose kindness and support has helped us navigate through this difficult time.
