Rita Lillian Nied (Lark) 

Cherished Wife, Mother, Sister, Nanie, Great-Nanie and Friend.

Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Henry (Hank) Nied; parents, Clarence and Charlotte Lark; and sisters, Kathleen Glasow, Lorraine Fetzner, and Jeanne Lark.

Rita is survived by her four children, Eric Nied, Marie Larsen (Paul), Michelle Brincka (Matthew), Jennifer Richards (Jason); 8 grandchildren, Matthew Brincka (Alyssa), Marissa Brincka (Timothy), Jonathan Larsen (Brittny), Timothy Larsen (Lulu), Meagan Dobbrow (Miles), Joseph Nied (Erin Kealey), Maya Richards, Max Richards; 6 great-grandchildren, Nora Brincka, Jude Larsen, Eli Larsen, Everett Larsen, Leif Dobbrow, Finn Dobbrow; sisters, Mary Ann Haffen and Joan Meisenzahl (Bob); and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Born in Rochester, NY, Rita grew up in Irondequoit and attended Nazareth Academy. Rita fell in love with Henry in high school and they married shortly after graduation. They raised their family in Fairport. Primarily a home-maker, Rita also held several other occupations over the years including waitressing, jewelry clerk, Tupperware sales, and child-care provider. Her love for children was evidenced by providing compassionate care to several families and she became “Nanie” to many children beyond her own grandchildren. Rita served as a devoted volunteer to the Crisis Pregnancy Center for many years.

Rita was a fabulous cook and artistic flower arranger. She was well-known for her stunning white hair and always “dressing to the nines”, which led Henry to bequeath her the nickname “The Silver Fox”.

Faith was at the forefront of Rita’s life. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and by her unwavering faith in the Lord. Her family rejoices in knowing that she is with her beloved Lord and Savior. 

A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be held at 11 am, on October 20, 2025, at All-Seasons Chapel, White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd, Pittsford NY 14534. A luncheon will be held following the service at a restaurant (location to be announced at ceremony).
