William R. Welsh Obituary

William R. Welsh

June 9, 1930 - January 21, 2026

Bill was born and raised in Rochester, NY and was the son of Helen L. and Harry S. Welsh, Jr.

He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine Greiner Welsh and is survived by cousins John and Linda Thompson (Victor NY), Susan and Michael Liuzzi (Littleton CO), Leilani Lewis (Bloomfield NM), Paula Wollenhaupt Rochester NY) and several cousins and relatives.

Bill attended East High School and Hamilton College, graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Hotel Management. He served proudly in the US Army and was First Sergeant of the 411th Signal Company, serving nine years active and reserve duty. Bill was employed by Eastman Kodak for 35 years, spending many years traveling to the company’s international subsidiaries. He was very active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, serving as Youth Vice President and Board Chairman. He was also a long time member of several railroad organizations and after retirement, he volunteered at Monroe Community Hospital and the Strong Museum.

Bill was an extremely generous and kind gentleman, with a keen eye for numbers and details. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. There will be no calling hours - his family will hold a private memorial service. Donations may be made to the Greece Town Library in memory of Geraldine and William Welsh.
