Bill passed away on April 15, 2026, at the age of 47. He is predeceased by his father, William Mateer Jr., and is survived by his son, Mason Mateer; his mother, Nancy Mateer; his sister, Maggie Mateer (Scott Randall); Shauna Rogers (Mason’s mother); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom he loved. 

Whether through golf, boating, skiing, or sports cars, Bill found his peace in motion.  As a teen, his passion was golf, which took him to Hilton Head Island, SC, where he attended the International Junior Golf Academy.  He spent the next several years there working at golf courses as an equipment mechanic.  Ultimately, he started his own business on the island, selling and repairing landscape equipment for the next 20 years.  He eventually returned to Rochester, where he gave us the greatest gift of his life—his amazing son, Mason—for whom we will be eternally grateful.

A private service and interment will be held at a later date.
