Obituary of Mary O. Russell

Russell, Mary (Ogren) East Rochester /Rochester : Passed away May 21, 2011 at age 73. A St. John's Home resident for the last 7 years, Mary spent most of her life in the Forest Hills area of East Rochester. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter & sister, a friend to most everyone and was known for her kindness and cheery disposition. Mary grew up in Minnesota where she graduated from the Univ. of Minnesota's Occupational Therapy Program. Following graduation, she started her career at Strong Memorial Hospital. She married her late husband, Gene Russell, after meeting him in a YMCA sailing class at the Pultneyville Yacht Club. Mary is predeceased by her parents Bob and Clar (Torgrimson) Ogren. Mary is survived by her 2 sons, Jim Russell of Clayton, NC and Charles "Chip" (Liz) Russell of Penfield, NY and 2 granddaughters, Jenna & Libby. Mary had many longtime family friends. She befriended many of the staff, residents and families at St. John's Home. Mary's hobbies and interests included gardening, arts & crafts/ornaments and bridge. The family will receive friends on WEDNESDAY 4-7pm at the HARLOFF Funeral Home 803 South Washington Street in East Rochester.
