Mary Frances Elizabeth "Babe" Goodman
EAST ROCHESTER, NY Mary Frances Elizabeth "Babe" Goodman, 51, of East Rochester and formerly of Poughkeepsie, passed away on March 21, 2010 surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She is survived by her parents, Cosmo and Theresa Goodman; two brothers, Dan Goodman and Leon (Pam) Goodman; and her nephews who she loved greatly, Wesley and Danny Goodman in addition to her many loving family members and friends both in East Rochester and Poughkeepsie, and around the world.
A graduate of SUNY Cortland, the Culinary Institute of America, and a member of the East Rochester Bombers, Mary Frances lived and loved life fully. A sports enthusiast with a love for field hockey and softball/baseball, she fondly remembered her campfire days working at YMCA/YWCA and Girl Scout camps in Northern New York. Aside for her love of the New York Mets, Mary Fran had a passion for ministering to those in need and gave her time toward several mission trips in Guatemala, Katrina-affected areas, and New York City.
Mary Frances was previously employed by St. Francis Hospital and Vassar Brothers Medical Center. More recently, Mary Frances won the hearts of her employers and co-workers at CareCore National (here and across the miles). She challenged herself daily and could be counted on to help to anyone who asked. She is fondly remembered for often quoting "There's no crying in baseball" from A League of Their Own. She was always "MFG on the J-O-B!"
Prior to her illness, Mary Fran was a Children's Ministry Director, caterer, and choir member at Full Gospel Center, LaGrangeville, NY where she was also a beloved member for the past 21 years.
Family, friends, co-workers, and all who were fortunate to know Mary Fran/Babe are invited to join in a Celebration of Mary Fran's life to be held Friday, April 9th at 7:00 pm at Full Gospel Center, 1138 Route 55, LaGrangeville, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in her memory to Benincasa Hospice 3880 Rush-Mendon Road Mendon, NY 14506.
