Obituary of John Celentano
Thursday, October 4, 2018. Peacefully at the age of 92, surrounded by his family and his beloved wife, Loretta “Rett”, of 70 years. John was the youngest son of John and Ellena Celentani of East Rochester.
He is survived by his three children: Fred (Kathy) Celentano, Paul (Sharon) Celentano, and Laurie Celentano. John was known and loved as “Sully” to friends and “Papo” to his eight grandchildren: Don (Beth) McPherson, John Paul McPherson, Ryann (Pierce) Redmond, John Crofton Celentano, Whitney Celentano, Taylor (Jay) Bernunzio, Danielle Wert and Jonnie Wert, and his six great-grandchildren.
John was a WWII veteran, serving as a staff sergeant and tail-gunner with United States Air Force but he best known for his sense of humor, quick wit and sarcasm, and his big heart.
Friends may call Thursday, October 11, 4-7 PM at Harloff Funeral Home, 803 S. Washington St., East Rochester. His Memorial Mass will be Friday, October 12, 10 AM at St. Jerome's Church, 207, Garfield St., East Rochester. Interment White Haven Memorial Park.
