Obituary of Sylvia A. Howell
Sylvia A. Howell, born in Solon, New York, on February 22, 1934, passed away on October 26, 2018 at home. Predeceased by her husband, Robert C.; her parents, Julia and Arthur Storey; and her two sisters, Shirley McCarty and Marilyn Albro. She is survived by her son, Rob; several brother and sister in-laws; many nieces and nephews, their children and families; and many close friends that extend even to Korea. She retired from General Railway Signal (Alstom), having worked there for many years. She also had earned her cosmetology license.
Sylvia was kind and loving, always giving of herself to help others. On the creative side, she enjoyed doing crafts, embroidery, and other creative fabric projects for her house and to give to others. Her other great love was making sure that visitors to her home felt welcome and were well-fed. She particularly liked children and was well-known for the Christmas parties she used to host for neighbor’s and friend’s kids. She also made sure that loved one’s who had nowhere else to go for holiday meals had a place at her table.
People who want to share their memories of Sylvia and celebrate her life can gather at 1:00 PM, Saturday November 10, in the All Season’s Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, New York. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice or reach out and do something nice for someone else who might need some help or be lonely.
