Obituary of Jeanette Mary Corea

Corea, Jeanette M. August 5, 1924 – May 22, 2020
East Rochester -- Jeanette Mary Leege Corea, 95, left us while sleeping peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at her daughter Nancy's East Rochester home on May 22nd. Possessed with a warm and gentle nature that belied her quiet strength and great resilience, Jeanette raised and nurtured her family in the East Rochester home where she was born and lived for 90 years. While fostering an atmosphere of unfailing love and acceptance in her roles as wife and mother, she also contributed significantly to the success of the family business, The East Rochester Shopping Guide. A skilled seamstress and gardener, her love of beauty and creativity enhanced her enjoyment of life, and inspired several of her children and grandchildren to pursue the arts professionally. Her careful attention to detail set a standard of excellence that continues to serve them in their own endeavors. Jeanette’s care and enjoyment of people extended to communities to which she belonged – friends and neighbors in East Rochester, at Midvale Country Club, and the Baha’i community. Jeanette’s mother, Mildred, was among the first members of that Faith in Rochester and Jeanette’s continued association offered important spiritual direction and guidance to family members. All of us who knew Jeanette feel truly blessed by our time with her. In her humble and unassuming way, she encouraged the best in us in both our actions and our character. We will remember her with deep love and gratitude. Jeanette was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Charles Corea, and brothers Carl F. Leege Jr. and Francis Sherwood. A selfless, generous, and loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her devoted and grateful children, Carey Corea (Janice Aspridy), Nancy (Neil) Hoselton, Debra Corea (David Platoff), Douglas Corea (Martyna Magoon); her beloved grandchildren, Stacy Geppert, Shawn Sherman (fiancé Alison Carnevale), Nicole Corea, Kyle Corea, Maxwell Platoff (Grace Kim), Anastasia Platoff; and great-granddaughter, Charlie Alice Geppert. Jeanette is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Rose Corea of Fairport, Josephine Neilson and Ingrid Sherwood of FL, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.  The family gratefully acknowledges Dr. Catherine McPhee for her many years of patient and loving care.
