Obituary of Mary Ellen Tochelli

Mary Ellen Tochelli (Muto) East Rochester on May 26, 2020 Survived by her loving husband of nearly 70 years, August; devoted children, Nicholas (Maribeth) and Mary Felice; much loved grandchildren, Dr. Andrea (Greg) Tochelli-Ward, Erin (Matt Parry)Tochelli, Samuel Tochelli, Carter Tochelli, Anna Tochelli; her little joys great-grandchildren, Eleanor Rose Parry, Evangeline Joy Parry, Lydia Jan Tochelli, William August Tochelli and Amelia Grace Ward; cherished nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Saverio and Mary Felice Muto; brothers, Peter, Frank and Patrick; sisters, Carmella, Jessie and Rose; and grandson Nicholas. Originally from Carbondale, PA, Mary Ellen moved to East Rochester in 1950 after her marriage. She was a devout Catholic, devoted wife, mom, nonnie and aunt. She loved to cook, bake, sew, quilt and was very proud of her Italian and PA heritage and her love of family. She spent endless hours working around St. Jerome’s church, school and rectory, teaching religious education, cleaning, cooking and including the Priests Senate meetings, egg breakfasts, soup suppers, choir and committees. In her 40s, she returned to school to obtain her teaching certificate. She was always ready to lend a hand and loved to dance the tarantella at weddings. Services for Mary Ellen will be held at a later date. Those wishing may direct donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Golisano Children’s Hospital or St. Jerome’s Church.
