Obituary of Mario Fioravanti

EAST ROCHESTER - Born into this world October 17, 1926, went home July 3, 2020. Mario legally immigrated from Ascoli Piceno, Italy to the United States in 1967 with his family after a twelve year wait to join his parents, Alessandro& Antonia Fioravanti, in East Rochester. He began working at DiPaolo Bakery within days of his arrival until he retired in 2000. He loved the United States and was thankful for the opportunities it provided him, often telling others “God Bless America andGod Bless DiPaolo Bakery.” A“Super Best Friend” to all he met, including hundreds in the Village of East Rochester and at his parish of St. Jerome’s Church, Mario loved gardening with his pet chicken “Caterina” by his side, and making wine, sharing his harvest and vintages with family and friends. Mario is predeceased by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Ada & Giovanni Ballatori, brother and sister-law, Giacinto & Yvonne Fioravanti, brothers-in-laws Vito Tambasco and Vittorio Ballatori, and close friends Vincenzo & Dora Vanni. Babbo, Zio Mario, “Baffo” as he was also known is survived by his wife of 68 years Laura; children, Bruna (Antonio) Furgiuele, Antonia (Joe) Scalise and Paul (Lori) Fioravanti; Ten “Super Kings and Queens” grandchildren, Pietro (Kristie), Antonio Jr. (Sara) and Adamo (Amy) Furgiuele; Alessandra, Adriana, Joey and Anthony Scalise; and Mario, Silvia and Dean Fioravanti; and beloved great grandchildren, Leonardo and Milania Furgiuele. He is further survived by his sister Rosina Tam- basco, brother-in-law Pasquale (Elena) Ballatori and sister-in-law Santina Ballatori; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in the U.S. and Italy. Calling hours will be Monday July 6th at Harloff Funeral Home in East Rochester from 3pm to 7pm. For safety, it is kindly asked that facemasks be worn.
