Obituary of William R. Fox

William R. Fox Fairport - (1933 - 2020) Passed away peacefully at The Friendly Home on November 26, 2020. Bill was predeceased by his parents William & Eleanor Fox and his sisters Annie and Delores. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia ("Ginny") Fox, his daughters Peg Fox (Cindy) and Sandee Trabold (Chris), his son Bill Fox (Christi), and his treasured grandchildren, Patrick Trabold, Laura Trabold, David Trabold, and Billy Fox. Bill also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bill served three years and two campaigns in S. Korea in the Company B, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. He was Honorably Discharged in 1952 after being wounded in action a second time and was subsequently awarded two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star with Valor and a bronze campaign star. Additionally, he received a Combat Infantryman's Badge, a United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. On December 3, 1955, Bill married the love of his life, Virginia (Ginny) Pullano. In doing so, he also married into a large Italian family that claimed him as one of their own, and he remains an important part of to this day. Bill’s career in the U.S. Postal Service culminated with his appointment to Postmaster in the Town of Penfield in 1983 until he retired in 1990 at age 55. Bill (“Foxy”, “Dad”, “Grandpa”, “Uncle Bill”) will be remembered for his kindness to friends and strangers alike, his deep dedication to his family, friends, and Country, his love of animals- especially his "Granddogs", and certainly most of all for his incredible sense of humor. A private ceremony will be held with his immediate family at White Haven Memorial Park.
