Obituary of Laura Fioravanti
EAST ROCHESTER Our beloved mother passed on January 16, 2021 at the age of 88. “Nonna Bella” as she will forever be remembered, immigrated from Ascoli Piceno, Italy to the United States in 1967, settling with her family in East Rochester. She worked as a custodian for the East Rochester School District for thirty plus years, taking great pride in keeping the cleanest school in the County. A tireless homemaker, Laura most enjoyed preparing phenomenal Italian meals for her family and friends. “Mangia” was a mandate until her very last breath.
Laura is predeceased by her husband, Mario, her parents, Pietro and Paola Ballatori, brother Vittorio Ballatori, sister-in-law Elena Ballatori, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ada & Giovanni Ballatori, Vito Tambasco and Giacinto & Yvonne Fioravanti, and close friends Vincenzo & Dora Vanni.
Laura is survived by her children, Bruna (Antonio) Furgiuele, Antonia (Joe) Scalise and Paul (Lori) Fioravanti; Ten grandchildren, Pietro (Kristie), Antonio Jr. (Sara) and Adamo (Amy) Furgiuele; Alessandra, Adriana, Joey and Anthony Scalise; and Mario, Silvia and Dean Fioravanti; and beloved great grandchildren, Leonardo, Milania and Serafina Furgiuele. She is further survived by her brother Pasquale Ballatori, sisters-in-law Santina Ballatori and Rosina Tambasco; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in the U.S. and Italy.
Calling hours will be Tuesday January 19th at Harloff Funeral Home in East Rochester from 4pm to 7pm. For safety, it is kindly asked that facemasks be worn. A private funeral service will be held for the family at 10am Wednesday January 20th, which will be live-streamed at www.stjeromerochester.org. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jerome’s Church.
