She enlisted with the Army directly after high school and served as a graphic artist. Upon completion of her military service, Jeanine began a new career in Nursing. She graduated from nursing school as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and began work in Rochester, New York. Ms. Cooper specialized in geriatric nursing and worked at long term care facilities including the Beachwood, Hill Haven and Kirkhaven nursing homes. She worked alongside many young nurses that became her longtime friends. Some of Jeanine's nursing friends and colleagues actually cared for her later in life as Jeanine fought Alzheimer's disease both at the Veteran's Medical Center in Canandaigua, New York, and at Monroe Community Hospital in Rochester, New York. Jeanine's nursing colleagues often told family members how nice Jeanine was to work with several years ago, and the joy they felt being able to provide direct care to her later in their careers. Jeanine was well cared for by many doctors, nurses, support staff at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center 7B, as well as at Monroe Community Hospital. In an effort to assist with the continued Alzheimer's disease research that is desperately needed, and to help with family's caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's, please consider a donation to a local or national Alzheimer's Association.
