She shined a bright light on those around her, with her quick wit, selfless nature, and endless love. When you met Joyce, it quickly became clear that she truly loved to learn about you, and cared deeply. Joyce's impact on everyone she touched will live on. From her school days in East Rochester to her years living on West Ivy Street, a career at East Rochester Schools, her volunteer years with the ER Volunteer Ambulance Corp., and right through her last days at Monroe Community Hospital, Joyce will be remembered as a deeply caring, loyal, dedicated and quick-witted soul. Still, family was most important to Joyce. She was always so proud of her two children, Julie and John, and relished the times that brought her large extended families together for a birthday party, picnic, or holiday dinner. For any and every occasion, whether a birthday, anniversary, new baby, new home, congratulation, get well, sympathy, thinking of you, or just because card, Joyce let you know, the old-fashioned way, that she was thinking of you and sending her love. Joyce truly loved the hand-written note, one of the many ways Joyce let you know that she loved you. Joyce relished her grandchildren, watching them grow, sending them countless cards, almost always with a little something tucked inside that she ripped from a magazine or newspaper that she thought they would enjoy reading. Most recently, Joyce's great-grandchildren brought her immense joy! She loved picking up little somethings, whether stickers, a swimsuit for the approaching summer, pajamas for the season, or a little trinket she found at Target in the dollar section. Wrapped with love and sent on their way, these thoughtful little gifts were typical "GGJ" gestures of love. Facetime was a way for Joyce to stay in touch with grandchildren both near and far and more recently, enjoy watching her great-grandchildren grow. Although Joyce wasn't fond of some new technologies, she so loved seeing their sweet, smiling faces. Joyce was convinced that her beloved Yankees would win The World Series this year. You could ask her anything about the team, their record, player stats...she had the answer. Her favorite player, Aaron Judge (aka "cuz"), #99, never let her down. Watching everything Yankees never got old for Joyce. Maybe they will win the World Series this year for her! She most definitely will be in the stands, cheering them on! GO YANKEES!!!!
