Obituary of Michael Allan Ruth

Michael Allan Ruth passed away on October 25th 2022 at age 76. Born in Oswego, NY, on April 16th 1946 to Clifford and Margaret Ruth, Mike graduated from East Rochester High School in 1964, where he was active as an athlete, musician, and scholar. He received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy and graduated in 1968, when he was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy. Upon entering flight school, he married the love of his life, Barb, started a family, and then earned his wings of gold. Over a 25-year career he served as a carrier naval aviator in a variety of assignments at home and abroad, his family his biggest support. Upon retiring from the Navy, Mike taught mathematics for 15 years at Gulf Breeze Middle School, where he was an award-winning teacher and beloved by his students. After retiring from teaching, he returned to upstate New York to his family home on Keuka Lake, where he enjoyed woodworking, golf, lake life, traveling the world with Barb, and connecting with old friends. Mike was an exceptional man: a natural-born leader, bright, caring, and adored by many. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of nearly 54 years, his sons and daughters-in-law David (Leticia) and Stephen (Angie), and his grandchildren Christian, Casey, Eliana, Kyle, and Elizabeth.
