Obituary of Joseph Mauro

Joseph Richard Mauro, born August 9th 2002, beloved son of Richard and Kathleen Mauro, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on February 8th, 2023. Joey is survived by his parents and younger brother, Jimmy; paternal grandmother, Sandra Mauro, maternal grandparents, John and Sandra Mulryan; aunt, Susan Mauro, his aunt and godmother, Sandra Mulryan, and his godfather, Scott Garno; uncles, John Mulryan, Michael Mulryan, Patrick Mulryan, in addition to several cousins, and other dear relatives, such as Great Aunt Carol Hedges and her husband Glenn Hedges. Joey has been predeceased by his grandfather Joseph Mauro and his uncle Thomas Mulryan. Joey, also know as Joe to many of his friends, was beloved by his community of East Rochester. He graduated from East Rochester Union Free High School in 2020. Second only to his love of family and friends was Joey's love for sports. He was a member of sectional-winning soccer and tennis teams in high school. He also played baseball, basketball, and football through community organizations. He had aspirations to be a coach someday, and enjoyed watching many games with his Dad. He will be sorely missed for his sweetness, generosity, selflessness, and sense of humor. Funeral Mass will be held for Joey on Wednesday, February 15th, at St. Jerome's Church, 207 Garfield St. East Rochester at 10 AM, followed by a private family burial at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford. At 12:30 PM there will be a reception open to all family and friends at Saint Nicholas Society Hall, 206 Madison St. East Rochester. Anyone who can not attend the service can live stream it from St. Jerome's website at stjerome@rochester.org.
