Obituary of Ronald Dudley Garwood

Ronald Dudley Garwood (Ron) 71, of Pittsford, NY, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on March 11, 2023. Private funeral service for family members only will be held at White Haven Chapel, Pittsford, NY followed by interment at White Haven Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Ron’s love and devotion to his family was evident in his life-long hard work and sacrifice. The future of his children always guided his decisions. He was a loyal NY Yankee fan and was often seen with his young children tossing the baseball or visiting the batting cage. He loved to cook and his barbecued spare ribs were a favorite family tradition. Ron lovingly tended his garden, adding new color, planting shrubs and tending his grapevine. Ron loved aviation and eventually fulfilled his dream by earning his pilot’s license. His favorite family travel destinations included Bermuda, Ireland, and Scotland. His latest and most memorable trip was to Vietnam to attend the traditional wedding of his son Tim and his daughter-in-law Linh. Ron is survived by his loving son, Timothy (Linh) Garwood and his grandson, Oliver; his wife, Sheila; siblings, Sandra Potenzone, Linda (Howie) Mageira, Craig (Margaret) Garwood; his in-laws; Eileen (Tom) Zapata, Margaret MacInnis, Merrill MacInnis, Noreen (Andy) Ficuciello, Neil( Margaret) Dempsey; beloved nieces and nephews Mark Potenzone, Ricky and Christopher Garwood, Danielle Mageira, Barbara Ann Brito, Elizabeth Zapata, Sarah( David) Nyhan, Tyler (Alexis) and Conor MacInnis, James and Madeleine Dempsey. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Dotta Garwood, his brothers, Larry and Ricky Garwood, his beloved daughter, Erin, and his faithful dog, Juno. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House or Finger Lakes Organ Donor Network in honor of Ron Garwood.
