Mr. Montcrieff was the kind of teacher who gave you more for your money. He built rapport with his students and guided many of us as an adult role model with lessons we would use our whole life. He loved cars and would often say "It can pass anything but a gas station" about some of the student's cars. I still hear his voice when I see a muscle car.

To the Family of Coach Montcrieff: Ray Montcrieff was one of my favorite teachers....he really related to his students, young and old. My mother took Driver's Ed from Ray as a 55 year old woman that had never driven a car....and then I was lucky enough to spend a summer in the Coach's car. He was fun, interactive, and wise. He advice ran from how to drive a car to where to safely make out with your boyfriend in a car (in his driveway....we were welcomed anytime), but never in a public park. He would stop for ice cream cones and snacks.
So now over 50 years later, I remember him fondly. Please know that Ray made such a difference to the East Rochester community. He was loved and remembered. What a legacy.

I was very sorry to learn of the passing of Coach Montcrieff. Coach was my drivers education teacher and a very fine one at that who I fully emulated in teaching my kids how to drive competently and responsibly. He was also my football coach for four years. He taught a lot about football but so much more about life. He was a tough coach who wouldn't let you get by on anything but your best effort. He balanced his hard driving style with support and positive feedback that helped build confidence and a good work ethic. I'm sure I am one of thousands of his past students who feel the same way about how much he has impacted our lives, which is indeed a wonderful legacy that Mr. Montcrieff has left. Rest in peace Coach.

Sharing your loss of a great guy ! A father to everyone in town. I asked him once "how come you didn't tell me you went to school with my aunt ? he said-----you never asked" typical answer. I made him a glow in the dark birthday card. Ginny said the card looked weird-----Ray said yes it glows in the dark !!! May he rest in peace after a life well lived & may those fond memories warm your hearts.
