Pamela Erwin was born on September 27, 1935, in Rochester. She attended Syracuse University where she earned a Bachelor of Music (Music Education) degree in 1957. She decided to pursue music education at the elementary level and taught music in the Brighton School District at both Brookside and French Road elementary schools during the school year of 1957/58. She married John Erwin in 1958 and taught piano in her home for many years while raising her family. She went back to being a full-time educator in 1977 as an elementary school teacher at Penfield Central School district where she taught multiple grade levels at several different schools. She eventually became a Gifted Education teacher at Scribner Road, a position she treasured and where she taught for many years until her retirement in 1997. In retirement, Pamela was involved in several volunteer activities, including working with students at the Laurel Civic Center after school homework program, as a driver for Meals on Wheels and as a leader of the South Venice Senior Center writing group. A life-long learner she continued to enjoy opportunities while living at St. John’s Meadows including furniture building for refugees as part of the St. John's Meadows Wood Working group, cultivating orchids, creating Mandalas and playing the piano. She was a beloved family member, friend, teacher and work colleague who touched innumerable lives throughout her active and loving life. Private family burial.
