Obituary of Charles J McCann Jr.

Charles Joseph (Chuck) McCann, Jr., 78, of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, in Elmira, NY with his children at his side. Chuck is survived by his daughter, Lindsay (Adam) Crandall and his son, Brent (Ashley) McCann; grandchildren, Lily and Joshua Crandall, and Koston McCann; sister, Gwen (Jerry) Hyde; and nephew, Drew (Sarah) Prawel. Chuck was born in Elmira, NY on June 11, 1945. He went to Williamson High School and graduated in 1963. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1973. Chuck worked as a car salesman for Hoselton Toyota before settling into his job behind the front counter at the Pittsford Post Office. He loved people, and with a meticulous eye for detail and a smile beneath his handlebar mustache, he served the Pittsford community for 30 years. Chuck loved fast cars, crunchy living, and 70’s rock-n-roll. More than anything, Chuck loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength, and spoke of his faith with tenderness and conviction until his dying breath. Funeral service will be held graveside at White Haven Cemetery on September 21 at 12pm. Chuck will have a Green Burial, so it is suggested that attendees wearing long pants, socks, and closed-toed shoes for the service. Harloff Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
