Obituary of Joan A Deuel

Joan Angela Deuel (Fabi) of East Rochester, NY, passed away on September 30th, 2023, at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. Visitation will be held Friday October 6th at Harloff Funeral Home from 3 to 6 pm followed by a memorial service there. A reception to honor her life will be held after at St. Nicholas Hall, 206 Madison St., East Rochester, NY. Joni was born in Niagara Falls, NY to Mario and Antonina Fabi on January 4th, 1961. Her family moved to East Rochester when she was 3 years old and she attended East Rochester schools, graduating in 1979. From there she attended SUNY Brockport where she obtained her BA degree in Psychology. She worked in the mental health field locally for many years after. Joni is survived by her loving family, her husband of 38 years, Jerry of East Rochester, NY; sons, Jared (Amy) of New City, NY, and Zachary (Jeannette) of Rochester, NY. She is also survived by her treasured grandson, Eli James of New City, NY, her couch companion, Ziggy; sisters, Maria (Terry) Reed, Roseanne Fabi and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death her parents, Mario and Antonina Fabi; in-laws, George and Eileen Deuel and brother-in-law, Bruce Weiner. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made the Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Rochester at www.give.lollypop.org. Special thanks to Highland Hospital ICU for their care. The most important thing to Joni was to always show her love and happiness to whomever she met in spite of the challenges that she was experiencing herself. The devotion she showed to her husband, sons, grandson and extended family and friends will never be forgotten. We love you always...
