Essom Sr., Dennis L

“Denny,” age 79, formally of East Rochester and Canandaigua, NY, passed away on November 12th, 2023. Predeceased by his parents William and Frances Essom, brother, William Essom and late wife, Marge Albright; dear father of Dennis Jr. (Phyllis) Essom, David (Julie Secora) Essom; loving friend to their mother, Janet Essom; loving grandfather of Danielle (Justin) Mechetti, Mariah Essom, Dave Martin Essom, Devon Essom, Emily (Joe) Briggs, Dana Essom and Frankie (Mercedes) Essom; dear great grandfather of Jake, Maddalyn, Julia, Charlette, Bryce and Miles; dear brother of Richard (Julie) Essom; also survived by nieces and nephews.

Dennis’ talents were many, he was an avid fisherman, hunter, snowmobiler, and golfer. He really loved the outdoors, fishing on and off his boat, attending clam bakes at the firehall, and watching boxing matches with his best friend and business partner, “Mac” (the late Gordon H. Magoon). Dennis was also a huge Willie Nelson and country music fan.

Dennis had been employed as the Building Inspector and Fire Marshall for the Village of East Rochester for many, many years. Dennis was a long-time member of the East Rochester Fire Department and past Chief, he was also a member of, and past President of, the Finger Lakes Building Officials Association.

Dennis will be sadly missed by friends and family.

A Funeral Mass for Dennis will be held Thursday, November 16th at 10:00am at St. Jerome's Church with entombment at White Haven Memorial Park to follow.

A celebration of life will be held at the East Rochester Fire Hall on November 16, 2023 at noon.
