Obituary of Francesco "Frank" Surace

Frank Surace, beloved husband, father, brother and uncle passed away peacefully at age 70 on June 4th, 2024, after his short battle with cancer. He is preceded by his parents, Giuseppe and Carmela, his siblings, Rocco and Paolo. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marni, his two sons, Frankie, Anthony and daughter in law, Alexa. He is also survived by his sisters Antonia and Maria, and his brothers, Mario and Leno. Frank comes from a very big family who all loved him dearly.  
 Frank was the true definition of the “American Dream”. Coming from Calabria Italy in 1971 as an immigrant, he opened up Surace’s Pizza and Subs in East Rochester with his brother, Paolo. He had a deep connection with all that visited his shop as well the community surrounding it. Frank had a passion for anything he did. He was an avid hunter, wine maker, golfer, gardener and cook. Frank took pride in being able to provide from his passions. Frank would always cook a good sauce and cutlets for his family and friends and if you stuck around long enough, you would end up drinking a glass of famous homemade wine. Frank had a deep love for NBA basketball, riding his tractor, beating his sons in a game of golf, a good round of poker with his friends, and most of all spending time with his family.  
 To know Frank is to love him. Frank lived a life full of laughter, joy and lots of love. Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to a pillar of comfort, warmth, strength and above all the man who touched the lives of all who knew him. Calling hours to honor Frank's life will be held on Friday, June 7th, 2024, from 3:00-7:00pm at Harloff Funeral Home. This wake will be to celebrate Frank's beautiful life; feel free to bring a good story.
