Obituary of Patricia J. DeWind

Patricia J. DeWind passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her two children on July 11, 2024. Her will to live, dry sense of humor, and love of family remained consistent throughout her final days. Patricia was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert L. DeWind, mother, Molly Pullin, and brother, Lawrence Pullin of Syracuse. Patricia is survived by her son, David (Tammy) DeWind, daughter, Robin DeWind, and three grandchildren she adored, who knew her as Mema, Rob DeWind, Mike DeWind, and Sophia Startari. Pat worked in the coffee shop at Dedes Exit 45 Restaurant for 25 years. She was a loyal New York Yankees fan, an apple pie connoisseur, and, of course, a world-renowned potato salad award winner. She read any book she could get her hands on and enjoyed the beach and all things sweet. She loved dogs, especially Ricky, Jessie, Diesel, Ivy, and Ted. Pat was voted “Best Dancer” in high school and despite an arthritic knee, tapped her toes to Frank Sinatra any chance she got. She faithfully attended all of David’s baseball and basketball games and never missed Robin on the evening news. Pat was a natural teacher and cheerleader and was never afraid to “tell it like it is.” Pat fought a courageous battle with Lewy Body dementia. David and Robin would like to thank all the caregivers from NurseCore who touched Pat’s (Pattycakes) life. Words cannot express our profound thanks and appreciation for the help and comfort you brought to Mom’s life in so many ways. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Pietropaoli, for your true kindness and support. The family will have a private burial at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford, NY.In lieu of flowers, any donations to honor Patricia can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association: www.lbda.org or LifeSpan.org: giving@lifespanrochester.org.
