Obituary of Donald J. Van Epps
Donald J. Van Epps of Alexandria Bay and Pittsford, NY, died on September 2, 2024 in Rochester, NY after a short illness. Don was born January 18, 1934 in Rochester, NY. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Estelle Van Epps and his sister, Patricia Rockwell. He is survived by his loving partner of 26 years, Bridget Kelly; brother, George (Grace) Van Epps; nieces and nephews, Jeanne (Deb), Mark (Margaret), David (Suzanne) and Paul (Clare) Van Epps.
Don attended both East High and Aquinas High Schools and enlisted in the army after graduating. He served during the Korean conflict where he was assigned to the "Signal Corps" in Alaska. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0134 in Irondequoit.
Don fell in love with the St. Lawrence River at a young age. He turned into a "river rat" upon his retirement from Sprint in 1999. His house on the St. Lawrence River with his boat and jet skies was his "happy place" to live and play.
He was a good friend to everyone and his sense of humor was an essential part of who he was.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 25, from 3 - 5 pm at Harloff Funeral Home, 803 S. Washington Street, East Rochester.
Interment will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice or help a neighbor/perform an act of kindness in his honor.
