Obituary of Linda Forbes

Linda L. Forbes, a lifelong member of the East Rochester community, passed away suddenly on October 4, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Marjorie Forbes, who instilled in her a strong work ethic, independence, and a deep connection to family.

Born and raised in East Rochester, Linda graduated from East Rochester High School in 1975 and remained closely tied to her roots. She was an active member of the Auxiliary of the Perinton VFW Post 8495, where she dedicated her time and energy to the community.

Linda’s career was as unique as she was. She started as a mechanic at Sears, breaking barriers with her hands-on skills and determination. For decades after, she worked at Home Depot, where her strong work ethic and technical know-how were evident to all who knew her. Linda was recently preparing for her well-deserved retirement after years of commitment and hard work.

Fiercely independent, a true jack of all trades, and never afraid to speak her mind, Linda was a one-of-a-kind individual. She had a passion for writing, publishing several books of poetry, and was always creating, whether it was through handmade cards or thoughtful gifts for friends and family.

Linda is survived by her beloved beagle, Maggie, and many cousins, all of whom will remember her for her individuality, practicality, and her ability to be direct and honest. Her straightforward approach to life, along with her many creative talents, will leave a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Family and friends are welcome to attend her Graveside Service on Friday, Oct. 11 at 11:00 a.m., Oakwood Cemetery, 1975 Baird Road, Penfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Perinton VFW Post 8495, https://vfw8495.com or the Humane Society of Greater Rochester's Lollypop Farm, http://lollypop.org  honoring her deep connection to both her community and her pets.
