My sincere condolences to Peg, Nick, Michael and the entire Levato family. John was an East Rochester treasure, someone who cared for and did so many things behind the scenes to make our Town/Village a better place to live. He was truly a strong principled, intelligent and giving individual. I always enjoyed our many conversations, especially when discussing issues in the village. We are all better off for knowing John and having him in our lives. RIP my friend. Mark Florack

How does anyone describe John Levato . Over the past 60+ years that I have known this man he has always been a person I could count on in time of need. I truly can’t remember John ever saying no to myself or anyone who needed his help. As we all knew only too well he wasn’t the type of person who would shy away from a position that he felt strongly about. You always knew just where John stood. Johns love of family and friends was never in doubt because he not only talked the talk but walked the walk. I watched him raise his boys and couldn’t help but marvel at his devotion as a father and then as a husband to his beloved wife Peg. We sometimes use the expression once in a lifetime well to me John was someone who only comes along once in a lifetime. I was proud to love him and even prouder to know he felt the same towards me. No one in my lifetime will ever replace John Levato. Look forward to seeing you on our next adventure my friend.

I would like to send prayers to Peg and the entire family. John will always hold a special place in my heart as well my memories. I will always hold dear the special bond, (and arguments) that afterwards,We would just laugh about. He was there for me when i felt completely alone and did not know what to do, nor which direction to head. He was a strong, stubborn, forthright and loving Man with a true heart full of passion, I will miss you dearly my friend. Much Love, Scott Shulenburg

Peg and family, we are so sorry to learn of John’s passing. While we lived very close by, our paths didn’t cross often to really get to know you. But one time we will never forget was when we first moved into our house, and had yards and yards of dirt dumped off to use as fill for our front yard. We were outside taking wheelbarrow upon wheelbarrow to scoop and dump it, when along comes John down the street in a bulldozer, and he promptly proceeded to move all the dirt for us in a matter of minutes! It would have taken us hours and hours! It was so very kind of him, and while we intended to repay his kindness, time got away with all the endless projects of a ‘new’, AKA OLD house and we never did get to do anything more than our many verbal thanks. It is something I regret to this day. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead as you recall many fond memories and stories. Fondly, Mary-jo and Greg
