Obituary of William Kenneth Rockow
William “Ken” Rockow, passed away on 11/18/24, at 90 years old. He was surrounded by love and peacefulness.
Ken was born March 18, 1934. He joined the Air Force in 1951 at 17 years old. He proudly served during the Korean War. He returned from the war after an honorable discharge and entered the medical field. He worked as an EMT for National Ambulance until he moved into medical sales. He opened WKR sales, his own company, doing medical sales until he eventually retired. During his retirement he entertained all of his family and friends with his funny emails, reminders of National Ice Cream Day, crazy stories, and snacks!
He is survived by his daughters, Dawn Smith, Maria Rhodes and Lynnette Miller; nine grandchildren, Cody Kyler (Kristin Miller), Jake Kyler (Jessica DeAngelis), Mayah Smith (Brandon Passafiume), Darnell Rhodes (Nicole Trouerbach), Steven Rhodes, Haven Chivers (Jacob McGarrity), Trenton Rhodes, Kitana Miller and Michael Miller; and eight great grandchildren, Larson, Arlo, Marin, Aubree, Kyrie, Bryson, Leo and Levi.
Ken was a funny, loving, hard working and caring man. Being a father and a grandpa came naturally to him. His grandkids and great-grandkids loved his silly jokes, his big hugs and his missing teeth! He shared his love of chocolate and music with everyone around him.
Ken enjoyed NASCAR and worked with the medical staff at Watkins Glen race track for several years where he was able to combine his love of racing with his desire to help others. He had a passion for music, having been a pianist and vocalist. He loved the sound of a strong tenor voice and shared his love of classical music with his children and grandchildren. He lived life to the fullest.
In his memory, donations can be made to The Elizabeth G. and Jennifer J. Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center. Ken was able to spend his remaining days there under the care of the amazing and caring staff. He was treated with the dignity, care and respect that he deserved.
His friends and family are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Ken’s life in the way he would want to be remembered - as a loving and caring family man who enjoyed life.
