Obituary of Robert James Bolger

Bolger, Robert J. Penfield, NY: Bob, age 89, passed peacefully, October 5, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Lynette; daughters, Denise Kovnat (Larry), Stacey Cherwin (Daniel), and Buffie Bolger (James O'Connell) and grandchildren, Jacob Kovnat (fiancee Lynn Strybosch), Eliza Kovnat (fiance Blake Osborn), Brandon and William Cherwin, and Davis and Gabriel O'Connell. Predeceased by his parents, Marion and Alphonse Bolger and grandparents, Frank and Hannah Webster. A veteran of WWII, Bob served in the Air Force for four years. He retired from the Rochester Association of Realtors after 53 years as a broker. His passion was American and Native American antiques, and he was often contacted by museums and collectors for appraisals and documentation. Artistic and mechanical, he painted, made antique reproductions, and could fix just about anything. Bob graduated from Monroe High in 1942 and the University of Rochester with a B.S. in geology in 1951, thanks to the G.I. Bill. He had an abiding love for the terrain and geology of upstate New York, especially the Finger Lakes. He was a Son of the American Revolution, through Revolutionary war soldier Martin Stiles on his mother's side. Bob's Family will receive friends at the HARLOFF Funeral Home on SATURDAY, October 12th from 1 to 4pm. Donations may be made to Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450. "The family extends a special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Penfield Place who made such a difference in his last two years."
