Obituary of Ray Allen Yovanovich

Yovanovich, Ray Allen Pittsford: Went home to his Savior on August 23, 2014 at age 61. Survived by his wife Janis; daughter Melissa and son-in-law, Warren; Japanese daughter. Yuki; grandchildren, Hannah, Naomi, and Jude; parents, N. Ray and Marian Yovanovich; sisters, Diana (Mark) and Susan; sisters-in-law Theresa (Victor), Jeanette (Jerry), and Jennifer (Eric); several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. Ray worked for 32 years at UPS, during which he and Janis moved from PA to NY for Ray to attend Elim Bible Institute. He enjoyed bowling with his league (he had two 300 games) and golf at Lima Country Club. He loved music – from Mennonite hymns to Santana, singing, and playing the guitar. His specialty was the Alligator Song. He and Janis loved to travel – they went to Japan, Greece, Turkey, Mexico, and the Caribbean. He enjoyed the “finer things” – a great tie, a great cigar, a great meal, and room service. He was a committed Christian, and valued the fellowship and teaching of the church. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and close friends, especially during the holidays and special celebrations. Those who knew him well will remember his  sense of humor, and his unique laugh. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Ray’s life on Saturday, August 30th at 2pm at Lima Baptist Church, 1574 Rochester Street, Lima NY 14485. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Rochester and the Finger Lakes.
