Obituary of Charles W. Prong
Charles W. Prong of East Rochester passed away November 8, 2016 at age 82 years. Predeceased by parents, Charles E. and Helen (Moyer); and brother, Donald. Survived by wife of 59 years, Alice (Pella) and children Charles J., David (Laura), Heidi (Jeff) Kinnally, and Suzanna; grandchildren Christine Finlayson (Nick Sablone), Michelle and Brett Prong, Zachary Kinnally; great-granddaughter, Kenna Sablone; brother, Robert (Johanna) and Lee (Demaris) and their loving children and grandchildren; cousin Carol Schoen. A 1952 graduate of East Rochester High School, Charlie was a Veteran of the United States Air Force in the Korean War and member of East Rochester American Legion Post 1917.
He will be remembered for his love of baseball, whether he was playing, coaching, watching his children and grandchildren play; or umpiring, which was exceptionally suited to his personality.
No prior calling hours. Mass for Christian Burial on Saturday, 11/12/16, 10:30 a.m. at The Church of St. Jerome, 207 Garfield St., East Rochester, NY, with burial at the convenience of the family. Donations in lieu of flowers to Jean Daniel Senior Center, 317 Main St., East Rochester, NY 14445.
