Obituary of Filomena DiGiambattista

East Rochester, March 11, 2017 at the age of 94. Predeceased by her husband, Adrian, loving mother of Mario (Lori), and Maria (Jerry) Shafer, loving grandmother of Lisa (Michael) Gadsby, Andrea (Dave) Cedarleaf, Matt (KC) DiGiambattista, Cassidy (George) Shaw, Kyle and Meghan Shafer, loving great-grandmother of James and Grace Gadsby and Anna, Emily and Jack Cedarleaf. Filomena is also survived by her sister, Catherine and brother-in-law Crispino (Rosanna) Di Giambattista, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Filomena was born on Staten Island during a snowstorm in December 1922. At the age of 2, her family moved to Italy. The entire family returned to the United States in 1938. She came to East Rochester in 1957 and made it her home for 60 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all. A special thank you to all the nurses that cared for our mom for the few days she was home. You made her last days very comfortable, and we so appreciated your love and devotion to her. Please join us in celebrating her beautiful life at her funeral mass on Friday, March 17 at 10:00 am at the Church of Saint Jerome, 207 Garfield Street, East Rochester. There will be no prior calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Filomena's memory to the Church of Saint Jerome or Isaiah House, 71 Prince St. Rochester 14605.
