Obituary of John Reese Marr

John Reese Marr June 5, 1961 – April 27, 2017 Ogden: April 27, 2017 suddenly at the young age of 55. Survived by his loving wife and soul-mate of eighteen years, Marie Marr; daughter, Jamie (Rob Casseri) DiMarco; son Allen "AJ" (Stacy) Mort and three precious grandchildren : Benjamin Yarger, Julia Mort, and Gavin Mort; Brother in Laws: Joey Ferrara, Tony (Bernadette) Ferrara, Gary (Bob Adams) Ferrara; Sister in Law: Judy (Don) Gurnett; plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was born in Rochester on June 5, 1961 to the loving parents of Lawrence and Victoria ( Vicky ) Marr. He grew up in the small Town/Village of East Rochester with his two younger brothers Bill (Barb) and Richard (Suzanne). John was destined for greatness as he was ahead of the computer boom, going to Rochester Institute of Technology graduating with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 1986. John began his programming career at Blue Cross / Blue Shield in Rochester, where he first met his wife, Marie. This is truly when John realized the true meaning of life as his focus was solely on protecting, providing, caring, and loving for his wife and her two children. Jamie and AJ knew that their mom had met her soul-mate as John immediately embraced them as his own. John's love had no boundaries as he purchased a house with enough space to build a barn and filled the stables with horses. John and Marie even had two dogs and a cat which they loved as their extended family. John did this all while battling asthma, which he had since childhood. John also served on the East Rochester Volunteer Fire Department for over 5 years, before moving to Ogden for his dream home. Working from home for Oracle, John found that he was able to take on some home improvements which included add-on dining room, swimming pool, flooring, painting and much more. He balanced work, home chores, home improvement projects, and of course family. His family commitment was as deep as the deepest ocean and as precious as the most valuable gem as he never would miss an opportunity to spend time with family. Calling hours will be on Sunday, April 30th from 2 to 4 pm and 6-8 pm at Harloff Funeral Home at 803 South Washington Street in East Rochester. John's Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30 am Monday at Spiritus Christi at 121 Fitzhugh St N. Rochester, NY 14614. Internment at White Haven Memorial Park to follow. Friends and family are welcome to celebrate John's life with a brunch to follow at Midvale Country Club. Please consider a donation to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America in lieu of flowers.
