Obituary of George Wyant Scherer

George W.Scherer of Port St. Lucie FL passed away June 14, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Katherine; children, Maris Barbara Rose (Michael Muzzy), George E. Scherer, Audrey (Tracy) Smith, Pamela Scherer Hin, Robert (Robyn) Scherer; grandchildren, Zackary and Nikolas Macik, Jenni Jo Gallina, David and Michael Scherer, Seth McCombs, Sarah, Emily and William Hin, Josephine, Bella and Wyant Scherer; great-grandchildren, Axel Macik, Adrianna and Aubrielle Gallina, Mason Scherer. Step-daughters, Constance (Joseph) Ferraro and Virginia Eckert. Mr. Scherer was President of the GWS Consulting firm in Port St. Lucie, FL. He established this health care consultancy in 1992, shortly after taking early retirement from the Eastman Kodak Company. Mr. Scherer joined Kodak in 1954; his activities at Kodak included management positions in health care and diagnostics. He was one of the principals who helped create the Ektachem technology and attending businesses for Kodak. Mr. Scherer had a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and an MS from the University of Rochester. Prior to establishing a consultancy, Mr. Scherer was President and CEO of the Swiss investment group entitled Industrial Innovation Management (IIM) in Morristown NJ. Mr. Scherer was a member of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) and the Biomedical Marketing Association (BMA). His activities included consulting for companies and individuals in the fields of medical devices, diagnostics, therapeutics and biotechnology, with clients in the U.S., Europe, Russia and Asia. Areas of special emphasis included: technology assessment, strategic option analyses, due diligence for the investment community, yearly assessment of the industry, writing an "Industry Watch" publication and scoping major programs for general management. Mr. Scherer had over 45 years of experience in engineering and management, with 30 years devoted to health care initiative. No prior calling. George's Funeral Service will be held Monday 2PM in All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford.
