Obituary of Augustine F. Mazzo
Augustine Frank Mazzo of Fairport passed away at age 84 on March 30, 2018 in Crest Manor after months of kind and compassionate care by the nurses and staff of the second floor.
He was born on June 2, 1933 and attended Edison Tech, followed by service in the United States Army from April 1953 to April 1955. He married Jennie Joann Falcone on August 4, 1956. They settled in East Rochester, where he worked at Xerox for 34 years as a pipe fitter. Augie was a proud volunteer and Past Chief of East Rochester Volunteer Fire Department, serving for over 25 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many happy days at his camp in Pulteney, NY, which he referred to as his “Ponderosa”. He was also a long time member of American Legion Post 1917 of the Village of East Rochester, NY.
Augie is survived by his wife Jennie, son Tony (Patti) Mazzo, his daughter Jean (Don) Quinn, grandchildren Jessica, Nicholas, Matthew, Kevin, Caitlin, and Brian; eight great grandchildren; sisters Marion (Frank) Sutherland and Frances Wild.
Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 4, 6-8 PM at Harloff Funeral Home on 803 S. Washington St, East Rochester. The memorial mass will be held Thursday, April 5, 10 AM at Saint Jerome’s Church, 207 Garfield St., East Rochester. Interment White Haven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Augie’s name be sent to St Jerome’s Catholic Church or the East Rochester Volunteer Fire Department.
