Obituary of John Joseph Rohack

Rohack, John J. East Rochester: December 29, 2010 at age 91 after a brief illness. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret (McLaughlin) Rohack and six children: Marguerite (Monty) Bates, Dr. John James (Charli) Rohack (Bryan, TX), Karen McLaughlin, Marianne Rohack, Diane (Rob) Woods (Darnestown, MD) and Paul (Kris) Rohack (Arlington, TX). He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Erica Fee, Meaghan Fee, Jason Rohack, Eric Woods, Annabeth Rohack and Elisha Feigle; two sisters: Helene Reynolds (CA) and Anne Mika (NM), nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Alec and Anna Rohack, sister Maria and brothers Mike, Nick and Peter. John was a proud World War II veteran. He enlisted in the Army in March of 1941 and served in Iran and Iraq. Upon his discharge in 1945, he began working for Taylor Instrument Company and also enlisted in the Army Reserves (98th Division). He was discharged from the Army as a sergeant major in 1965 and became a part-time Officer on the East Rochester Police Department. He retired from Taylor Instrument in 1982. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Braman Post 1229. Calling hours will be 4-8pm on Tuesday, January 4th at Harloff Funeral Home. A Catholic scripture service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, January 5th in All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park (Chapel & Parking are at the back of the park). In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to the East Rochester Ambulance Corps or St. Jerome's Church in East Rochester.
