I am so so sorry to hear of Rene's passing --- I will always remember his smile as he walked down the hall at the Northfield. May He Rest in Peace and Fly With the Angels.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Julien. He was such a great man, always smiling, always a pleasant word. I could never thank him enough for what he did for my mother and father in their later years. He will be missed for sure. Prayers for the Julien family.

Uncle Rene's defining characteristic was confident kindness that immediately put you at ease. I remember him as a welcoming host to all us kids when the families would get together. As an adult, he walked me through my first financing of a car with GREAT patience and understanding, taking far more time than necessary to make sure I felt alright about it. That's a kindness and blessing I'll never forget. God be with you all in this time of loss.

Our thoughts and prayers with Rene’s family at this time of loss. There are many good memories from 116 E. Elm. Uncle Rene always had a warm smile and a laugh. Our son Remy’s name is based on his.

There are too many memories of Dad to try to list here. So I'll say thank you, Dad, for being the good man you were, a loving husband to Mom, and a terrific father to your kids. We'll miss you and your great big heart!
With love always,
Larry and Joan

I am sorry to learn of Rene's passing. I remember him fondly as a Scout leader when I was a young tenderfoot in E.R. Troop 229 in the late 1950s. May I echo Bob Volpe's comments about Rene being a calm and morally solid leader of boys in their Scout adventure and journey to become young men! He inspired us to be good scouts, and to pass on what we learned. I will always remember that Rene smile!

Rene' was one of the strongest personal influences of my early life. I've carried many of his teachings and models of behavior with me since his family was an across West Filbert St. neighbor in the 1040's and 50's, and a wonderful and beloved Boy Scout leader of Troop 229 for me and may of my peers in the late 1950's.
His calm, friendly, but solid character and sensible character-forming guidance was always felt at our meetings, our Troop's annual 2-week trips to Massawepie Summer Camp in the Adirondacks, and my trip with him to the Boy Scout's national Camp Philmont in New Mexico in the Summer of 1959.I had left scouting earlier that year as a "mature" 16-year old but in late Spring, Rene approached me to consider being one of the Scout leaders for the month-long Rochester and Utica area's 40-scout bus trip centered on a 2-week hiking and camping trip at Philmont in the mountains of New Mexico.
It was my first extended venture away from home. During the trip, Rene' was like an older brother to me coaching me on honing my leadership skills and advising me on my consideration of staying at Philmont as a counselor for the rest of the Summer. With his help, I made the decision to stay. It was the first big personal decision I made in my life as a step into adulthood. I couldn't have had a better person by my side to help me decide what I thought was best for me in dealing with what I thought was a unique opportunity 2,000 miles from home.
I haven't been in touch with him for many years, but I extend my sympathy to Rene's family on their loss of a very wonderful man.
Warm Regards,
Bob Volpe
