Obituary of Anthony P LaFay

Anthony P. LaFay. Esq. Fairport, NY. Anthony P. LaFay, born May 30, 1936, and died February 21, 2023, at age 86 at his residence surrounded by his three children, Marie (Philip) Byrne, Joseph (Jayne) LaFay and Michael (Kristen) LaFay. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Victoria, Gracie, Mary Rose, Cecelia, Robert, John, Tommy and Emily, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Cecelia LaFay, all his siblings, Donald, Theodore “Teddy”, Jean, Joseph, Jr. and Cecelia “Sandy”, and his beloved wife of almost 45 years, Roseann D. LaFay. Anthony was a graduate of East Rochester High School, earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester, his master’s degree in Education at SUNY Brockport and his law degree at the Syracuse University College of Law. He served in the army from 1959-1964. He taught special education in Fairport for three years, and taught business law at the Rochester Business Institute. He was a dedicated lawyer in private practice for more than 55 years, served as Perinton Town Attorney for 17 years, and was an acting Town Court Judge in East Rochester for several years. Anthony had a great love of learning, books, opera, and most importantly, his wife, children and grandchildren. Friends may call at Harloff Funeral Home, 803 S. Washington Street, East Rochester, NY 14445 on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 2:00 – 5:00pm.
