Having worked in Real Estate Services at the UofR for over a quarter of a century, I have had many relationships with Developers and Landlords during that period of time. I cannot think of any one of those that betters what I was very fortunate to have with Ralph, one of the most caring, genuine and trusted people I have ever had the privilage of working alongside and spending personal time with as well. I cannot imagine the loss his family and closest friends feel, as I know how I feel, only having the interactions I had with Ralph over the several years our paths crossed. God has one of the best and he will be greatly missed by those of us that knew him.

Anyone who ever spent even 10 minutes with Ralph would know that they had met a man with great kindness and compassion. He was a quiet man of great faith and love for his family and friends and warm humor. When I think of Ralph, I smile.

Ralph DiTucci has said many times that every day is a gift and I believe he lived that way, thanks to his indomitable spirit, his faith, and his family. Bless you, Uncle Ralph, and peace.

Even though he was technically my great-uncle, as my Gram’s baby brother, he was simple Uncle Ralph to me. I will never forget his laugh, the sparkle in his eyes and his hugs. He always made you feel seen. And special. Growing up, I got to spend time with him every summer when I visited my grandparents for a few weeks at a time; he, Maryann and their kids are part of those memories. As an adult, I tended to only see him at the Sina/DiTucci family picnic but the greeting was always the same. It won’t be the same without him this year.

My Uncle Ralph was only 5 years older than me, but one of my few recollections of our early years is that I used to call him Shrowdy. Where that came from and why I remember after all these years is beyond me. And apparently he also babysat for me and my sister Marie. Then, as often happens, our paths diverged as we grew, until the only time I saw him was at occasional family gatherings. But you didn’t have to be around Uncle Ralph very much to know what kind of man he was. The family man who took the good with humility and the bad with equanimity. That is the way I will remember him. I’m proud he was my uncle.
