Obituary of Michael S O'Connor

Michael Sean O’Connor passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2024, at age 64.  He is predeceased by his parents, John F. O’Connor and Marceline O. O’Connor, brothers, David and Patrick O’Connor. He is survived by wife, Erin O’Connor, beautiful daughters Brenna (Bill) Goodwin and Kara (Lenny Leach) O’Connor; grandson Liam Goodwin, brother Timothy (Becky) O’Connor and Sean O’Connor, sisters Wendy Heckman, Maureen (Vance) Kannapel, Sheila (Chuck) Goeff and Heather O’Connor; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Michael attended Corpus Christi, graduated from Fairport High school, and studied at Monroe Community College. He left College to begin his career in drywall, becoming the carpenter he always wanted to be. Throughout his drywall career, Michael worked alongside a man who became his mentor and one of his dearest friends. He worked in the building industry for more than twenty-five years, becoming an amazing craftsman who took great pride in his work. Before retiring, Michael worked as a chemical operator. Michael was always an athletic person and had a love for the outdoors. Golfing, biking, camping, fishing, bowling, ice skating, and swimming were some of his favorite activities. He especially enjoyed spending the hunting season at his camp, where he was able to add many deer trophies to his collection.  Michael loved to laugh and had an amazing sense of humor. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and uncle. He always tried to motivate, uplift and encourage others, was easy to talk to, and was always willing to help. Upon occasion, complete strangers going through tough times would strike up conversation and seek his advice.  Michael was a life-long learner and was interested in everything. He always had a book to read and was a wealth of knowledge in many different subjects. He had a great love for animals, most notably his cats Annie and Phia. He was a great card player and a pool-playing aficionado. You would often find him with a cup of coffee or a bowl of ice cream in his hand after a long day of retirement.  Michael was a man of faith with a loving spirit and was full of character. He was a beautiful soul, a best friend, and a kid at heart. He was a very generous person who donated to many charities and believed in the importance of paying it forward and giving back to others.  Very much loved, our Michael will be greatly missed. Calling Hours will be hosted at Harloff Funeral Home from 4 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, July 11th, 2024.  There will be a memorial service at 10 AM on Friday, July 12th, 2024 at Harloff Funeral Home.
