Glenn Edward Lasher, of Weedsport, NY, passed away on July 21st, surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Charles Lasher, and his daughter, Gloria Lasher. He is survived by his loving wife, Bernie Lasher; their children, Edwin Lasher (Gaby), Pamela Schilling (Michael), Kanrad Lasher, Ruth Lasher Herrling (Daniel), and Janet Lasher Capozzi (Michael); his 10 grandchildren, Christina, Vanessa, and Kayla Schilling, Charles and Noah Lasher, David and Maria Herrling, and Gabriella, Carina, and Rosalina Capozzi; his sisters, Janet Quinn (Larry) and Barbara Boys (Gordy); and many beloved nieces and nephews. Glenn grew up in Sennett and attended Weedsport Central Schools, where he participated in the Student Council and Rifle Club, and graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1966. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Civil Engineering at Clarkson University before enlisting in the US Navy, serving in locations across the world. He was a gifted marksman and earned Expert Marksmanship Medals for both pistol and rifle. After completing Officer Candidate School in Rhode Island, he served as Officer in Charge of the Navy Seabees stationed on the island of Yap, in the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands. There he met his future wife, Bernie. They had six children. After leaving the Navy, Glenn worked as a civil engineer in Illinois, Guam, and Yap until 1984, when the family moved to his hometown of Weedsport, NY. He was a dedicated employee of C&S Companies in Syracuse for over 30 years, rising to Chief Engineer and Director of Quality. He and Bernie were devoted members of St. Joseph’s Church in Weedsport for almost 40 years. After retiring, Glenn was diagnosed with dementia and spent his final years near family in the Rochester area. At 6’4” tall, Glenn was an imposing man with a tender and humble heart. Many close to him say he was the smartest and kindest person they knew. He was devoted to his work, family, community, and country, all of which he served selflessly. Those who knew him well will remember him for his meticulous and hardworking nature, his integrity, his belief in personal responsibility, and his warm and generous spirit. Glenn was fortunate to have many dear friends, neighbors, and relatives whose relationships he treasured. He loved engineering, reading the newspaper, having breakfast at Denny’s, cheering on his children at sporting events, nature walks, long Sunday drives, traveling, and making dad jokes. Above all, Glenn loved his wife, Bernie. They worked tirelessly to build a simple but rich life together for their family and those around them. Glenn was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed and remembered with love and admiration by many. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 10th 10-11am at St. Ann’s Cherry Ridge Chapel at 920 Cherry Ridge Blvd, Webster, NY, followed by a funeral mass at 11:15am, and lunch in celebration of Glenn’s life.
