John was the most dedicated, caring, compassionate person. He touched the lives of the students of ER is such a positive, powerful way. His students will feel his influence in their lives for many years to come. He's probably organizing breakfast with Santa and the angels! He will be greatly missed.

It was such a pleasure to work with Mr. Reitz. The children were his highest priority. He taught the students to care about others and themselves. His remarkable spirit lifted staff and students daily. He has truly left a lasting impression on the East Rochester students and community. You are sadly missed.

Last week I heard the song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and immediately thought of Mr. Reitz as he used to play that song on Fridays after the PM announcements in middle school. To his family, you have my most sincere condolences. Take comfort in the fact that he touched so many lives and was a major factor in what made ER a special place to grow up and go to school. He lived a life and experienced a career of such importance...and did it so well. We should all be as lucky. May you rest in peace, Mr. Reitz...mission accomplished.

John Reitz made sure that each eighth grader had a chance to earn a place on the trip to DC. He did the same with chaperones. The second time he passed me by, I said,"Look, John, I'm not getting any younger." His reply, "You'll be fine, Deb. If I can do it, you can do it." And I did. Like any great leader, he did not ask his students to do things he wouldn't do. Thanks for the memories, John. I know you earned YOUR place.

Mr Reitz was one of the strongest most caring individuals I had ever met. He was a support system for many and always knew how to put a smile on your face. From the first time I met him to the numerous can and bottle drives, hype days, and 8th grade class trips he had gone through he touched many people's hearts. I am blessed to have known such a great hero. RIP Mr Reitz hopefully there are plenty of lip suckers in heaven for you

Mr. Reitz always opened the gym and helped organize our Sunday morning basketball games. He was older than the rest of us but played harder to make up for it. We could always count on the glasses going flying at least once. He was our "Charlie Hustle".
