Obituary of Peter DeVoria
Peter DeVoria of Fairport passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at age 99. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Janet and his brothers and sister. He is survived by his sons, Robert (Gail) of Pittsford and Michael (Andrea) of Macedon. He is also survived by his grandsons, who were his pride and joy. Robert (Carrie) of Pittsford, Aaron of NY, NY and Adam of Gainesville, FL; he is also survived by his great-grandson, Jackson.
Peter was born in December 1916 and resided most of his life in Syracuse, NY. He was raised in foster care by Mrs. May Bates and the Rev. Webb W. Ayres in Springville, NY. He attended Syracuse University before serving his country during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He completed a decade's long career as an entrepreneur, which found him at his best. He established Peter's Polar Parlor in 1967, which continues to serve cold treats to this day. He was a lifelong Syracuse University athletics fan, attending many games at Archibald Stadium, Manley Field House and the Carrier Dome. He enjoyed fishing and golf, passing those passions to his sons.
